Modern-Day Romantic Comedies You Should Watch If You Haven't Already!

Love can lead to hope, but it brings lots of hardship as well. With many twists and turns, love can leave you out of breath.

Romantic comedies are not just happy endings. It has to do with the whole experience — from the way they meet to the montage of happy times before things go bad; from the agony of a misunderstanding or fight that causes the conflict to the ultimate resolution and reconciliation. This is usually the part with the big love confession.

Here are some modern-day rom-com to make you wish you were living a life of a character out of a rom-com.

What Happens In Vegas




Two gorgeous lead actors and a surprising number of laughs. What Happens in Vegas is a 2008 American romantic comedy film, starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. A man and a woman are compelled, for legal reasons, to live life as a couple for a limited period of time. At stake is a large amount of money. The title is based on the Las Vegas marketing catchphrase ''What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas'' 

The Ugly Truth




An uptight television producer takes control of a morning show segment on modern relationships hosted by a misogynistic man. Abby, a lovelorn TV producer, finds herself in the midst of tests when she strikes a deal with her chauvinistic colleague, Mike, who wants to prove to her the accuracy of his relationship theories. It leaves nothing-off-limits but handles even the most extreme, with both taste and phenomenal humour.

27 Dresses 




After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with. Meanwhile, she also meets a cynical journalist who has a hidden agenda. A lighthearted, goofy, well-written, character-driven movie. "27 Dresses" is a poignant, romantic comedy that makes you swoon. This follows a story where you realize that love is always just around the corner, and sometimes, you might've been looking just the wrong way

Life As We Know It




Introduced by common friends, Eric and Holly go on a date but their lives take a turn when they are handed over the custody of the orphaned baby of their friends. Also, the comic relief from the supporting comic actors added a lot to the movie. Life sometimes slaps you so hard and puts you in a place where you never wished to be but all you have to do is to make things work. This movie is all about it and it successfully creates an emotional link with you.

The Proposal



When New York editor Margaret faces deportation to Canada, she convinces her assistant Andrew to marry her in return for a promotion. A trip to his hometown, however, brings many surprises her way. The cast is great and there is a lot of funny moments to balance out the romance. Love the chemistry between Ryan and Sandra. The dialogues & the screen presentation worked really well.

13 Going On 30



Jenna Rink makes a wish on her thirteenth birthday and wakes up the next day as a thirty-year-old woman. it's a film with a lot of heart and passion, especially from the performances. Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner are so good together. The movie has all the things to make it work. Funny, innocent, simple with really good support cast. It's a light, fun movie to watch. A very delightful feel-good flick.


When In Rome



Twin sisters, Leila and Charli are en route to Rome in order to participate in the Summer Intern Program. However, cupid strikes the two as they struggle to keep up with their respective jobs. A classic Mary Kate and Ashley movie.

Mr And Mrs Smith



A husband and wife struggle to keep their marriage alive until they realise they are both secretly working as assassins. Now, their respective assignments require them to kill each other. its popularity and greatness are also accountable for two of the most famous actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Their chemistry is so beautiful that even if they play in the most boring film, it would still be catchy. The plot of the film is also engrossing, the film is stunning. The cinematography, the action, everything is perfect.


Valentine's Day



On Valentine's Day, several couples face struggles related to their love lives while others try their best to find love. However, they try to overcome the challenges to make things work. , it is a prime example of great cinema in today's day and age. The movie delivers entertainment and touches the soul. Won't compare it to Love Actually, because no movie can match Love Actually.


The Switch



An unmarried woman uses a sperm donor to conceive a child, much to the dismay of her best friend Wally. She remains in the dark for many years unaware that Wally had replaced her sample with his own. is like a romantic comedy, except better because it gives you everything you want: romance and comedy with a story and characters. The movie showers us with comedy and very little sap. A romantic comedy that is cute, funny, romantic, mature and where you actually welcome the storyline - what more could you ask for?


Just My Luck




Ashley meets Jake at a party and soon learns that her good luck has been switched with his bad fortune. Leading an ideal life now, Jake falls in love with her and tries to win her heart. the plot is very original and the theme of karma is super fun. It is interestingly dramatic and enjoyable. Lindsay Lohan is charming and adorable as usual and shows good chemistry with Chris Pine making this movie work. A good film with striking locations and fashions and photography is above adequate. The soundtrack is bright and breezy, the pace is snappy and there are some amusing situations.

Crazy Stupid Love



A middle-aged husband's life changes dramatically when his wife asks him for a divorce. He seeks to rediscover his manhood with the help of a newfound friend, Jacob, learning to pick up girls at bars. This movie is the perfect blend of funny and sweet. Great performances from the whole cast. It's hilarious with a dramatic side that perfectly intertwines. The characters are thoughtfully intertwined between each other and the storyline is not easily guessed.


It's A Boy Girl Thing



A gorgeous teenager, Nell, who is bookish, and her silly classmate Woody go to a museum with their class. An ancient Incan spell then leads to the two find themselves in each other's bodies. Body swap movies are nothing new and here the premise is the same; what raises it above are the two central performances which are strong and the overall sense of fun mixed with some good tackling of stereotypes. While pretty much forgettable, the movie is fun and charming and full of the right kinds of energies. You just fall in love with the characters. It reminiscences the sweet old days. It has the best double character development ever. And will leave you feeling nostalgic.


Just Like Heaven



David finds an amazing apartment, only to discover it is haunted by the spirit of the previous tenant, an overachieving doctor named Elizabeth. However, things get out of hand when he falls for her. The movie is excellent. It's a fresh and unique storyline and some power full performances by the two leads. It has great comedy scenes that will make you laugh. The cast is fantastic - Mark Ruffalo and Reese Witherspoon make for great on-screen chemistry and the script is sharp. It has subtle moments and enough tender moments to make it gel and become believable. Photography is used wonderfully in the movie as shots of the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge are highlighted throughout the film, giving you a sense of looking down from heaven on the growing love between David and Elizabeth, through the earthly and spiritual realm.
